What begins as a romantic love story soon turns into an exciting, fast moving adventure. Set against the backdrop of postwar Britain, this is book one of a multi-layered trilogy that follows the turbulent lives and love affair of Reg and Dorothy Calvert. Interwoven is a history of early British rock music and musicians.

Life is hard after the Second World War, and with few job opportunities and a massive housing shortage, Reg and Dorothy live in an old bus while Reg tries many ways to earn a living, including making popcorn. Too soon, they have children and Dorothy struggles to maintain some equilibrium in their marriage. Reg, like Peter Pan, refuses to grow up and lead a normal life. When he hears Bill Haley's 'Rock Around the Clock' he gives up a steady job to pursuit his dream, to bring 'Rock 'n' Roll' to England.

Second edition has been completely rewritten, revised and enlarged.

It is available as a paperback £8.50 + £1.50 p&p.  222 pages, 50+ photographs. Also as a Kindle eBook.

'CLIFTON HALL - School of Rock'  Book 2. Clifton Hall is situated just outside Rugby, and for five incredible years in the 1960s, musicians and singers lived with the Calvert family. From here, they were 'trained' to perform rock 'n' roll, and toured the country's dancehalls and theatres. There was loud music played day and night, a pet monkey, mad firework parties, much fun and laughter, but also heartbreak. Many famous people visited the house, including the Beatles and Jerry Lee Lewis.  1961 - 1964, available in special edition hardback, 'LIFE AND DEATH OF A PIRATE' .

Photo top of page - Roy Young, playing piano. He worked with the Beatles. Glen Dale, leaning on piano was a fabulous singer and became one of the Fortunes. Pete Mist - was in the Strollers, backing Danny Storm and later in the Regents, backing Buddy Britten. Roger James - performed with many groups and later had his own bands and wrote and performed his own music.)
